The security challenge
Milton Farm required a CCTV system capable of protecting a large rural property with cameras spread across four separate buildings. Previous incidents had involved thieves entering via the private driveway and stealing valuable equipment, creating a need for improved vehicle identification and wider security coverage. The system also needed to support day-to-day livestock monitoring, particularly during important periods such as calving and lambing. With the buildings spread across the farm, conventional cabling between each location was impractical.
The CastraGuard solution
CastraGuard designed and installed a multi-building Dahua CCTV system using wireless links to transmit camera feeds back to the main farmhouse. The installation included a 16-channel Dahua NVR, 6MP Dual Light IP cameras and ANPR technology to provide improved coverage and vehicle identification at the property.
The wireless infrastructure allowed cameras positioned around separate barns and buildings to operate as part of one integrated system without the disruption and cost of running extensive cabling across the farm. Remote viewing also allows the client to monitor the property and livestock from a phone or other connected device.
The result
The completed system provides Milton Farm with significantly improved security across the property while also serving as a valuable livestock-management tool. The client can remotely monitor barns, buildings, entrances and livestock from a single system, with ANPR providing an additional layer of information for vehicles entering the property.
By combining CCTV, wireless networking and remote viewing, CastraGuard was able to overcome the challenges of a dispersed rural site while providing a system that supports both security and the everyday operation of the farm.
